New fee structure at DCC?

Filed under: news — andy @ 8:04 am

Well it looks like the Duluth Curling Club has decided to do what most other clubs do, and charge membership dues based on how many leagues you play in. The basic membership fee will get you in one league, then you pay an extra $30 to play in additional leagues.

I think that the old system of paying one set rate for unlimited leagues was a great bargain, and its sad to see it go. But I can understand the economics of it. Compared to the dues at other clubs, the DCC is still a great value. What do you think?

*Correction:  The fee to play in additional leagues is $40, not $30.

  1. Its a good value for the money. If anything, I would like to the the club charging MORE for fees, to ensure that it is adequately funded. And obviously, even with the extra $30 fee for more-than-one league, the more active curlers still get way more for their money than any once-a-week guys. I have to wonder why we penalize the once-a-week folks, and why we don’t just charge a minimal membership fee and $150 per league.
